Do I really need high performance starter?

I'm putting on the bellhousing to my 200 performance build (about 9:5 compression ratio) and the high performance starter I ordered from summit does not fit (god forbid any part that I order online actually does). :bang: As far as I know powermaster is the only high performance company that would have the right application (if they even do, since the one summit sent me from them for my engine does not). I'm wondering if it would be ok for me to go to the local auto parts store and pick up an oem starter because it will be much quicker that ordering anything online. I'm just wondering if the oem will be enough for my build. Part number for the powermaster i received: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pwm-3 ... el/mustang. Also, i'm doing the t5 conversion with a 66 bellhousing and block plate - so 2 bolt alternator (although for some strange reason, half of the parts store i call say the starter they have for my motor has three bolts).

Thanks in advance.

8) for a 9.5:1 compression ratio? no you dont need a high performance starter. those were designed for big blocks, aka 396, and large engines from the various manufacturers, and high performance small blocks running better than 11:1 compression, and running enough initial timing to make hot starting difficult. with our little sixes, i would venture to say that most of us on this forum could probably use a proper hand crank to start our engines.

the "2 bolt v 3 bolt" has me more concerned than 'high performance'. rbhom has answred that...

what bell R U using, where is the fitment issue coming up? @ the bell?

am I reading this all wrong? alt v starter (might B a lill late @ nite 4 me!!!)

The advantage of a small starter is lighter weight & more clearance if you are running headers.
I run a nippondenso reduction starter for the above gain.
You need some advise from a member who has a stick shift conversion.
I have a C-4 & mine is a 3 bolt for a FE engine.
