Dual exhaust vs. Single

The sound at highway speeds is very important if you go on long trips. I have gone on 3 cros-country trips with my convertible, and the sound with stock muffler can get pretty annoying at speed with the top up. I favor a mellow sound myself. 8)
When I hook up my headers, highway sound will be of major importance. 8)
Is there a site that has sound clips of the different units?

the problem with all the sound clips is that they are made mostly with v8 or ricer 4 bangers. the first thing my wife said is "my god that thing is loud. i thought they were going to fix the exhaust"
I will keep it for a while but will prolly change it once it becomes irritating. fortunatly my car will be just for around town. no long distance trips.

Is there any place to get 2" pipes for an I6 that bends to the mustang well or do I need to take it to a muffler place and have them bend the pipes for me?

You'll either need to pay a shop to bend the whole thing, or buy a V-8 dual exhaust kit, and just have the shop fabricate and fit the kit to your car and exhaust for the 6 cylinder.

Somebody submitted something that had a clip with headers, single out, and a cheap turbo. I thought it sounded pretty good.

anyone want to buy a Flowmaster?

Pookster, V8 exhaust systems fit. Just use the right hand side.

you should be able to sell it to someone at the local high shcool auto class

that is what i think i will do

I have a '94 F150 with the 300 L6. I put a 2 1/2" pipe all the way back with a custom Y pipe from my local muffler shop (no cats either). I put an el-cheapo Thrush Turbo on it before a short 70 degree bend out the pass side in front of the axle. It sounds great!! Many sixes sound rough but this is very smooth and mellow. My Dad has a Chevy six from '81 and it is'nt nearly as smooth as mine.

My exhaust setup

  • Port Divider
    FSPP Jet-Hot coated header
Dual exhaust with Borla ProXS mufflers
Straight out the back running 2.50" pipes

My next engine modification will be a 2bbl carb upgrade. Am I losing any power by running 2.50" pipes?

Thanks,

Justin
