Duraspark I conversion

I'm placing a duraspark I out of a 75 mavrick into my 71 Bronco with a 170. I went with a I vs II since it will fit better
due to my power steering pump bracket.

With a duraspark II you have a red and a white wire from the module but on the duraspark I there is a red a white and a blue, so how do you hook this up. I have done some searching but have not found an answer yet. I have my own ideas but I dont want to fry anything, but I'm sure someone on here has the answer to this.

Thanks.

Does this help?

So it looks like the Red and Blue are pulling off the same wire just on opposite sides of the ballast resistor, I would guess that is so you get the full 12V on start-up
and then it pulls from down stream of the resistor so you are getting lower voltage so less heat and ware on the coil and sparkplugs, does this sound right??

Correct, except it has no effect on the sparkplugs. Coils are made diff with some requiring the ballast resistor and some not. If you use a coil that needs it and no resistor and you will burn it up shortly.

I just finished installing the duraspark on the 170 I6 in my Bronco and what a difference!! It starts quicker, idles and runs way better, what a great upgrade for so little
money.
