I went to NAPA to get the parts for the duraspark and only got more confused. Can someone tell me exactly what I need to order? Can I just order the "guts" and put them in my existing distributor? I plan on purchaseing either the MSD 6A or 6AL, the MSD coil, and the wiring harness from Summit. It is my understanding that I will not need the stock control module that NAPA says I will need. Also, do I need a special cap and rotor with this configuration? I tried reading the many posts on this subject, but I am still confused. Thanks for the help.

You cannot put DII parts in a points style distributor.

As far as ordering a dizzy, I had them get a '78 Fairmont 3.3L electronic with single vacuum advance (39.99 at AutoZone)

Check out this thread from the Big Six Forum

Here is another from a while back that lists everything for a SB6

you do not need a ford module if using a MSD box, when I order parts I rarely tell them what I plan on doing with them as that leads to more questions then I care to answer..

But from reading the posts (I have only wired a ford module and a GM module into the cars I have worked on) you need the DII dist, the cap adapter, the cap and rotor, new wires, the coil of your choice, the ignition module of your choice, and that special pigtail for DII to MSD.

(man I hope I helped with all that babble)

Tell the counterperson that you need a distributor for a 1978 Ford Fairmontwith the 3.3 liter inline six.
You also need a Cap & Rotor kit and a Cap Spacer

BTW...don't even mention to the counter person that this
is going into a Mustang....that'll just complicate things.!!!!!
