duraspark with a MSD 6A which one do i have?

i noticed the MSD 6A instructions say there are two differant kinda of durasparks... in fords. how the hell do i know which on i have.. they say something about a white wire on one of the durasparks. they have two differant ways to hook it up in their book.

any clue? i think it would be alot simpler to set up if it was MSD dist... but we all know they will never make one for it. :roll:

First, are we talking about a Duraspark II, the one with the big cap? If so, remove the plastic convoluted tubing to expose the wires, there should be 3, then wire it (MSD box) as a stand alone, like so.

You would use the white wire to triggter the MSD if you were keeping the Ford Duraspark control box, though I'm not sure why you would. The wiring for that method is http://msdignition.com/pdf/pdf16.pdf . The simplest way to hook up a duraspark/MSD is to just get the adapter and plug it in.

okies thanks for letting me know whats what. god guess i need to get with the sign of the time with ford stuff eh? then again i only know how to work on carbs not efi... lol

but that all makes it clear.. guess i'll stick it in next weekend.
