All Small Six Early or Late 200 inline 6

This relates to all small sixes
Hi, 50 years or so after these cars were made you cannot assume anything is original. Look for date codes cast into the main parts, and read the tech section to learn about the bigger changes made as the engine evolved. The Ford Falcon Performance Handbook is also a big help. Good luck

Hi, to answer your question, the early 144, 170, and 200 blocks were drilled for the small bell housings, whether the car had a 3 speed or an automatic tranny. By 1966, the engines were able to fit the small (C4) bell housings, and the larger bell housings for the mighty 9" clutch, used with the new 3.03 3 speed. This was made possible by drilling for both bell housing patterns. Good luck

C9DE 6015-B
C = 1960
9 = 9th Year = 1969
D = Ford Department that the Part was Originally Designed for = Falcon
E = Ford Department that was responsible for making the = Part Engine Foundry
6015 = Ford's Generic Part Number for All Engine Cylinder Blocks
B = This shows that the Part was a 3rd Re-Design or Improved Part

The Casting Date Code will look like the below Picture it will have 2 to 3 Numbers and 1 Letter, this code would tell you the exact Day the part was made at the ford Engine Foundry.

That should be D9DE, not 09DE.
Ford casting codes start with a letter, then a number. The letter designates decade, the number the year in the decade.
C - 60s
D - 70s
E - 80s

I don't think so because of the Distributor that it has, but I would need to see a picture of the Numbers to tell for sure and the Casting Date Code.

That's very good since it's a 1966 or newer Short Block than you will have the Duel Bell Housing Bolt Patterns. This also gives you the option so that you can then also use the Larger C7 up Manual Trans Bell Housing's, Flat Flywheel, along with a 9 Inch Clutch if you should ever want to swap in a 3.03 Top Loader 3 & 4 Speed Manual Transmissions, or go on up to one of the T5 5 Speed with Over Drive.
