electronic ignition for a 223

I think Pertronix makes a kit to fit the later 223s. These convert your stock distributor. If you have the load-a-matic setup on your car with the spark control valve you might be able to get around this by using the carb and distributor from a '52 or '53 215 (I'm not sure the distributors are interchangeable, but the carbs will). The 215 distributor is still vacuum advance only, but is not burdened with the spark control valve.

The distributor for the 215 is identical to the 223. If you dont want the spark control valve on the carb, you can just use a holley 1904 or a few other similar holleys also didnt have it.

My ignition is all stock and I am using a holley 1904 (without the spark control valve). Seems to work okay. Would a carb that did have the spark control valve add more pep on takeoffs from dead stop in conjunction with the factory ignition ?

I think that there is a way to convert the duraspark 2 from a 300. A couple of people here have done it. Uses off the shelf parts.

ya you take a distribuotr from a 240 or a 300 and swap distributor gears(you have to ream out the 223 gear), but you have to make sure that your oil pump drive is a 5/16 hex or you gotta 1) make a pump drive or 2) swap to a 64 and later pump and drive.......
i think that covers the major stuff
did i miss anything fiddy?
here's a deal that helped me out: http://fordsix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28482

I am just using the Petronix kit and it seems to work well.
