Hello all
I have a 200 I6 that I am having rebuilt I want to put a cam and single out headers. I wan the engine to run with a mild lope. Nothing too crazy but noticeable. What cam should I go with and where can I buy one? What single out headers should i go with and where can I buy them? Also are there any other suggestions that you have for my engine. I want to build a strong running engine, that sounds good and produces nice power. Thank you cody PS im budget minded

go to www.fordsixparts.com
from there you'll be able to buy all the parts you need, well, almost all the parts you need

look on there, you'll find the Ford Six Cylinder Performance Handbook
buy it, memorize it, it has a bunch of great info

If you want a mild lope you will probably want a cam with a Lobe center of 110*. Going down to a Lobe center of 108* will give you a VERY lopey idle, and will whack the vacuum as well. A Lobe center of 112* will give you a smooth idle with no lope or almost none. Most folks here that I've seen have been buying cams in the 260-270 lift range. Mike at FSPP has several cams available that might fit your bill. I just ordered a CSC-264/274 (112*) Hydraulic Dual Pattern cam from him. I went with a 112* cam because this is my wife's car, and she WOULD NOT appreciate the lope. Another popular cam manufacturer that builds performance cams for our 6's is CompCams. I think several folks here have bought their 260 cam and like it.

While you are at it, I'd get one of FSPP's double roller timing sets.

Mike has a good picture on his site showing what can happen to a stock timing set in a performance 6. I'm currently planning my new engine, and just ordered one of these.

As far as headers, from what I've seen, you have four manufacturers to chose from: FSPP, Hooker, Clifford, and Pacemaker (Aussie import). FSPP's new dual outs are going to be awsome. He's going to have every set he sells HotJet coated, although I believe he can do the same for the Pacemaker's he sells as well. Word of warning about Clifford though. They have a bad reputation of being VERRRRRYY slow to deliver product

Ok thanks... Sounds like the thing to have is the performance handbook.

Absolutely! I got mine a week or so ago and read it from cover to cover. It's not so much a maintenance manual as a book chocked full of the do's and don'ts of this specific engine, with alot of performance information. Supplement that with the actual Falcon six shop manual, the info on this site, and you'll be set!
