Hello,
My engine block is engraved: 15 C8DE 6015 R
Yet my Mustang is 1966 and I do not think the engine was swapped.
Do you have you any explanation?
Thank you. :)

If the car is a '66 and the block is cast (raised letters) as a C8 [68] then at some point in it's life the motor was swapped.

I had read somewhere that the blocks were prepared in advance for several years and that a block built in 66 could be marked as 68 planned to be mounted in 68.
I feel that I am not clear! :? :?

I am not aware of Ford casting a P/N into a block two years in advance. Usually if anything the casting number is usually a few years older than the vehicle.

It is not uncommon for Ford to cast a sufficient number of blocks to last for a two year production run and for parts replacement, perhaps that is what you are referring to about a two year production run.

C8 indicates the block was cast in 1968. If the car is a 1966 then as stated above that would tend to indicate the car was built two years before the block was cast.

I would concur with others regarding the engine having been swapped out prior to your taking ownership of the vehicle.

I looked at your website and it is a beautiful car. That blue color with the pony interior is very appealing. How long have you had the car in France? How did you get it?

Thank you all for your responses.
This car has been imported into Belgium by http://www.autos-collection.be/ in july 2007 which is a professional for the U.S. car.
I bought it in October 2007 23900 $
Now she is tested to 33.000$
I recently found the owner in the U.S. in Illinois, which had kept 24 years and he sent me pictures of the time. It was a great joy for me.

If the block is a 1968 is that changing anything for the bellhousing for my project for a T5 swapping ?

Is a bellhousing of V8 of 289 can be mounted on a L6?

Best regards :)
