Engine mounts for TE Cortina Six

I'm putting one of my 200, 221, or 250 6-cylinder engines in my TE Cortina. It's currently a 4 cylinder.

If anyone has TE 3.3/4.1 chassis frame engine mounts in good condition, I'd wouldn't mind paying any resonable sum for delivery to my work at Dunedin, New Zealand.

good luck trying to find them. i had a very hard time trying to find them. i ended up having to get them delivered from a place in brisbane called Total Ford Centre which is a wrecking yard. im not sure if they would deliver to new zealand though

Also need to cut the radiator support
and fit a six cyl gearbox mount to the tunnel you need to cut it out of the 6 body an weld it into the 4, not a hard job

Will check for eng mounts

No worries about the transmount. I'm using a UC Sunbird Trimatic item, mounted to the Ford Falcon rubber mount. My mate Richard did this on his 5-speed Toyota/EFI conversion. He got his engineer to cover off the Holden X-member after putting a special plate on each side of the trans tunnel inside the car. It's very narrow, and you can place the mount where you need it to go.

I've elected to go for a handbuilt sump, sump pick-up with a Hyundai style external dip stick. My dual exhast is all custom fit from my old 2.3 V6 MK 5 Cortina. Fuel tank is custom from my friends old Mk 4 Cortina Wagon which ran a 2.3 V6. Once you've cut the tank down to 45 liters, you can fit a Chevy drop exhast system behind the wheels without any problems.

Can't contain my delight in how huge the transmission tunnel, fire wall, and radiator cone is on this little TE Cortina. Ford Australia really did major changes to the British Mark 4.

And how tough the chassis and track rods are. What a weapon!

That sounds like alot of work to fit a 6 in there
why not go for a standard cortina sump???

Dont be fooled into thinking a TE cortina body is strong as there simply not
With the 8 te cortina's that i have had i have found that you dont need alot of hp before they start cracking up

Problems that i have had and how many cortinas it happend to

>tearing the rear suspension arm mounts off the floor x4

>cracking at the lower edge of the rear screen at the top edge of the boot x2

>cracking around the trans tunnel where it joins the floor x1

>cracking aroung LH engine mount plate x5

>tearing the lh engine mount out off the rail x1

>cracking around the rear mounting bolts on the front seats x8

>cracking in the rear floor pan under the rear seat x1

Isn't the car supposed to be a test bed for selling motors and gearboxes? I can see the positives there: "Mate, this motor clean ripped off the engine mount and cracked the body, it's so powerful"...

Yep. Great marketing ploy, isn't it?

He he he

Wheels mag did a test of an automatic 2 litre TF Cortina in 1980. Rear window fell out on the highway!

Apparently, the whole rear end got pulled out of the first station wagons when Ford did 'durability' testing.

Some engine mounts would be just perfect to confirm on deny my Cortinas strength. I need something to put all my engine parts in, and my EFI Fairmont Wagon and Falcon 500 are too big.and outlandish for my little street, and my little Cortina is rego'd and rust free.

i have the whole lot the mounts to the body, the rubber mounts and the mounts to the block if you dont mind paying postage i'll sell them to you.i live in oz but.

Aussie is just fine where six cylinder Cortinas are a lot more common. Cheaper than buying them here!

Got a picture of my car today. I've been a bit preoccupied with my contracting work, doing lotsa miles. The old thing is just about ready for its engine transplant.

Sonny, that cheque for the engine mounts is in the mail

Where'd you get the faux Minilites? Off an Escort? Last picture it had steelies.

A few of us could do with number plates like yours, too.

Aussie company Performance Wheels make them. They are cheap and nasty, but you can run over kerbs without smashing them. Hint Hint...

no probs,i love the wheels what size are they?can you get them in 15" ?pm me and tell me what colour trim you have and if you need any thing small and i'll have a look and squeeze it in the package.

Mine are 14 by 6 J with 205/60 14'S. This is basically a Plus 'None' on the factory Aussie S pack Cortina TF 1980-1982, which were 185 /70 14 on 14 by 5.5J. Rego allow it becasue the track is within 25mm, and tyre (tire????) is a little lower as a 205/60 than it is as a 185/70.

I like the rare specialty Saab Sonnet style

15" rims like this

If it wasn't for my wifes tendancy for crashing into kerbs (sl@99-ing the bags?), and the fact that latter Bridgestone tyres with 'rim protectors' still don't stop alloy wheels looking like Cookie Monster has been at them when you hit a pothole, I'd have a set of 15 by 6 inchers tomorrow.
