just on average how much would it cost to purchase a decent 200 cid ford engine? I just have a bad feeling about mine cause it upon startup knocks like crazy then has a very heavy throttle off groul noise at until 200 rpm. People say its bad, and worse, I know I dont have the expertise and tools to rebuild an engine and I think it would cost more then my car to have it rebuilt by someone. How much would it cost for a good condition nothing special engine?? (there is a place in fresno called Mustang Ranch and they sell them I think at 2000+ dollars I am not sure). (I bought my car from then at 4400 dollars and that price is starting to show with rust, bad engine handling, road noise, suspension problems, and electrical problems)

I thought the mustang ranch was in Las Vegas.....

YOu can probably get an engine rebuilt for about $1000-$1500 at a local shop to your specs. Why not try that first?

saw one go for less than $100 just recently
go talk to the local junkyard

I believe a short block is just the block and a few other internals? and a long block is complete, someone correct me if I'm wrong, also check ebay, losts for cheap!

I would stay away from the Mustang Ranch they have a bad reputation for taking advantage of people. Prices are insane or at least I think so. for instance a used 289/302 performer rpm intake manifold for $200; you can buy a new one for that.

I was just at 5 star earlier today when I droped my car off to them. The shop itself isn't much to look at, but the had rows and rows of motors waiting to be shipped out. They had some really nice looking chevy 350s and 454s. I even saw some really nice 302s. For those of you that are familiar with old Mopar stuff, they had a Super Bee that they were rebuilding the motor on. Anyways, I will let you all know more about my motor's situation when I get the chance to swing by the shop and look at it.

I had no intention of letting Mustang Ranch deal with my car ever again since it was they who sold me my car to begin with and now after less then 5 years the problems are becoming clear: engine noises, suspension noises, interior noises, first tranny going out, beautiful paint job turning out rust, etc.

Did you say it was 200 dollars for a used V8? to me that is cheap unless u meant 2000 then yeah that would make more sense.
