Exhaust manifold spacer

Ok so im bouncing new ideas off you wonderful folk about the intake manifold heat sink.my newest idea is an exhaust manifold spacer like 2 inches or so i could machine some spacers. And that would move the exhaust manifold away from the intake manifold. Also where can i get the exhaust port separator for the head.

Howdy Back John:

Whoa boy. You are whirling. What is the goal of an exhaust manifold spacer? The heat comes from the exhausted combustion. I don't get it.

Keep it coming.

Well im thinking if i get an air gap between the exhaust and intake manifolds it will alow the air to get in there and cool it faster also wont heat the bottom of the intake as bad

interesting idea, with someone who knows CAD and CNC a simple gasket template maybe could be matched for a very thick gasket effect ..

'trying to visualize what that would do with the angled block exh. flange for fabbed headers or turbo collector or ... ,

have fun

A quick mock up if i make the spacers square the manifold should drob out straight and then i would just hafe to adjust the exhaust. and after makeing the mockup im thinking 3 inches.lets get an opinion.

What type of metal should i use for that much heat without getting to much movement due to expansion. Alum, stain steel, steel.titanium$

I am on draft 2 down to 1-1.5" thick and cnc construction. But i dont know metals and there characteristics.

My exhaust manifold has an issue where the 2 center exhaust ports meet. The center section used to have a tube running threw it but it has come appart im thinkinf of grinding that center out and press in an .25 inch titanium tube. I think thats for the hot air intake on the choke. 'If so dose it just suck air out of the fitting at the bottom of the manifold.

Yes it draws air through that tube which goes through the manifold, thereby heating it as the exhaust heats up

But should it have a filter or be routed to a place it cant suck in trash

I think it needs to have the exhaust on one side and the intake on the other…
What say we move the intake to the other side?
