gonna be getting a new exhaust system put on my 61 falcon but notsure what size pipe to getput on,im running a 200 with a cam and a clifford dual full length head, any ideas?

thanx stevie

I'd probably run 1 3/4" with true duals. Remember, you only have 3 cylinders per pipe, so to keep the velocity up a small pipe is needed. If you Y the pipes down into one, don't go above 2 1/4".

thanx for the reply, thats what i was thinking of getting put on true duals with a set of 12 glass packs should sound real mean

I've heard sound clips of Flowmaster 40's....they sound mean as heck.

Edit:

Found it.
This is 63droptop's I believe. He has a slight cam too.

Might as well post the rest I found.

Spences66six, true duals with glasspacks and turndowns just before the rear axle.

x21's stock inline six, 200 cid, one 1978 exhaust manifold, stock single pipe leading to a $20 cherry bomb with a turndown in front of the rear axle.

cfmustang's 200 cid with .030 overbore and head milled .060", Clifford dual outlet header through Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers, Clifford Weber 2bbl adapter with a Weber 38/38 DGES, Clifford 272 degree hydraulic cam, 1.75 Intake & 1.50 Exhaust SI values (undercut and a 3 angle valve job).

80Stang's 200 with a Dynomax Super Turbo and too many engine mods to list here. Go here to see them.

And lastly here is a video of Okefenokee Comet's 200 with dual out header and Borla XS mufflers.

Enjoy. I like those Dynomax the best I think...

i never had flowmasters before i tend to stay away fromt main steam mufflers,i dont like my car to sound like everyone else

Yeah, I hate Flowmasters on a V-8, specially a Mustang. Is it mandantory if you have a 5.0 you have to run those? You're gonna sound different just by having a six though...

yeah true, dual outlet header on a six has its own sound, but just a set of cheap glass packs is good enough for me

on my 67 mustang im running 2.25" dual flowmaster 40 american thunder series pipes and it sounds really nice... they actualy dont sounds like anyone elses car! good and loud
also i have a 94 ford escort which i re-did the exhaust and put in a glass pack thrush muffler... sounds really good for a 4-cylinder... nothing like those stupid import cars with their weed wacker exhaust

anyways both flowmaster and glass pack thrush sound really good

i thinkim gonna have to run small pipe ,im gonna be putting 2 inch lowering blocks on it ,there might be a clearence issue there ,anyonehave any input on this?

well on my 65 200 stang i have a single 40 series flowmaster and i think it sounds as mean as they come. Even on a six, its a deep tone that just can't be beat. Im not dogging glass packs but ive always thought they sounded alil cracky.

Flows all the way, glass packs sound like crap in my mind, cant beat the sound of a good dual flowmaster exhaust on these motors, trust me!

Wow, my car made a list!

However, disregard the wildly swinging idle. That was when I was going through all the trouble of getting my old carb sorted out. I'll have to root around the harddrive and see if I have a clip where the idle is a bit more stable...

I am thinking of putting a Flowmaster 80 series muffler in instaed of the original stock muffler. I hope i am right about the number of the muffler series, but its the one with the inlet and outlet on the same side. Has anybody used these. I want to the replace the stock muffler that came on the 65 mustangs. ( the one that is positioned on its side in front of the gas tank)

Any comments?

Ive heard a few people put a flow in place of the stocker, sounds good, NOTHING like a dual header and true duals, but youll like it!
