Hi. Some buddies and I have been doing lots to my engine lately. First of all I ordered the wrong adapter for the 2bbrl carb. I have a holley 2300 and accidently ordered the weber one. I was going to return it, but they said I'll keep the weber one and they will send a plate to me for free, well .. except for the 11.00 shipping and handling. Okay so my buddy machines a homemade plate. We take off the old 1 brrl put the weber on it...guess what? The base it too big on the adapter. Mine is like 2" and the one i ordered is 3"5/8. Ahhhh, so we have to drill holes. We make homemade gaskets for the head, the carb, and the adapter. Man this is taking for ever to get my carb on! Okay, so finally, everything fits.. now to figure out how to hook up the throttle, because the carb sits sideways.. so that took a night of thinking. We find a way and yes! Finally, it is complete. We tune the carb and take it on a test run! Man, soooo much better than that stock carb. I have the 500cfm holley 2300, and its worth its price. So that was done just 3 weeks after my rebuild and new exhaust system. So now I am back at school again and can't wait to get home to my baby. I don't know how to get some sound clips or video clips on here, but man i wish i could. Sounds unbelieveable.
Okay so here's a question, my buddy Steve said that instead of replacing the distributor, i can just get some Pertronnix bolt on thing that bolts onto the top of the distributor. I told him i was thinking of ordering a DSII. He said its wayyyyy to much wiring and not worth it. I am wondering what to do becuse within a month, i am going to buy some new spark plugs, new wires, msd6al and new coil. What would be the best thing to do? DSII or the pertronix...either way, points have to go!!!

you can use the dsp 2 with the msd ignition you dont need the control box. pertronix is probably easier bc you dont have to remove the dist. to install.

I would do the duraspark. if it ever fails you can walk in a parts store for a replacement

I would lean towards the DS2, especially if your dizzy is original ('67?) then it would be a load-o-matic with no centrifugal advance! If you are going to get a MSD 6AL as well it really isn't that much more wiring, the MSD box will be triggered by the DS 2 dizzy using the magnetic trigger wires (2 wires) vs the 'white' points or equiv triggered wire the pertronix would use (1 wire). You can even get a harness from MSD to plug the DS2 directly into the MSD box without having to splice any wires or anything.

To save costs, if you have a local junkyard available you can pull a DS2 out of a Fairmont or equivalent for $20 or less, I'm not sure what they go for new in the store....
