exhausting question... OD or ID?

are auto exhaust sizes quoted in OD or ID?

ID makes more sense to me when trying to calculate flow... but i have a feeling folks are always talking OD.

i never really had need to question this before but i saw a site that said the I6 'stangs were 1 3/4" and the V8's were 2" and mine measures 2" OD (but the 200 has been replaced with a 250).

this probably doesnt even deserve an answer does it....

the diffrence of od and id is the thickness of the steel used to make the pipes. i dont think that will have any affect on your exhaust's performance either way.

Lord, I should know this........Pipe is measured in the ID and tubing is measured on the OD.
