exhuast headers

i finally got the insurance check from an accident I was in (not my fault) and am putting it into the Mustang instead of buying a new car.

One thing i am looking for is a new exhaust header to redo the entire exhaust - the old one is rusted and falling apart.

I was looking into some of the FSP headers on classicinlines.com but they are out of stock on everything. Anyone have other suggestions on dual out headers for a i6 200ci engine?

thanks

Yes get the hooker 6601 ceramic coated by jet hot.

It never hurts to shoot Azcoupe an email telling him what you are looking for. Sometimes a sell could fall through or he might have a prototype of a new one or he could be weeks away from having new ones in stock.

yes their website is cliffordperformance.net just got a set for someone locally they fit ok not real happy with the fit around the starterbut the price was right :D

Long tube, dual outlet, ceramic coated. That's what you want. Can be had from CI or Clifford. I use a CI and it was easy to install, fits right up, stays tight, etc, etc.

Here's a post I did. In the middle of this post is the header install process I used.

I answered my own questions since then. The nuts do stay tight with just the flat washers. Also, I had duals done at the local "Muffler House" and ran them through Turbo mufflers. Sounds great!

Don't be so quick to assume they are out of stock at CI. My computor showed everything out of stock too. It was a glitch. I called CI, talked to Mike, and had my stuff in a week!

Unfortunately we are out of headers, for two reasons.

First, I'm looking for another manufacturer as the last batch of headers I had made locally were not made per my specifications. When I went over to talk with them about the issues I had, they weren't very concerned about taking care of the problems. Therefore I decided to look for another manufacturer. I think I found a company and have them working on a protor type. If that doesn't work out, I have two other companies on the back burner.

Then there's the Pacemaker headers, which are made in Australia. Personally I prefer the Pacemakers over any other, as their quality is second to none. But there are a few problems to overcome. Not only do I have to pay to have them shipped over, I also have to pay jobber pricing, which makes them very expensive in comparison to US headers. On top of that, when the US dollar dopped in value last year, it make it impossible to compete with the US market. However, I've been watching the exchange rate, which is starting to swing in the opposite direction, in favor of the US dollar. If our dollar continues to gain value, and if I can find a way to purchase the Pacemaker headers at a lower price, I'll be able to import them once again. Since I doubt that I'll be able to convince Pacemaker to set me up as a distributor, I started looking for other options. I recently started talking with a company in Australia, who is interested in selling my products. In exchange, they may be able to help me out with the Pacemaker headers. On top of that, I may have found a cheaper method of shipping. While were still not there, it's looking pretty good.

The second reason, and more importantly, is cash flow. With the sagging economy, sales have been really slow the past six-eight months. While I've saved up enough cash to order another batch of headers, I decided to put the money elsewhere while I look for another manufacturer, or wait for the US dollar to gain value. Instead, I'm put my money towards finishing up the big six aluminum head, and hope to have the proto type done in a few weeks. It's been sitting on the back burner for several months, as I simply didn't have enough funds to continue. Hopefully I made the right decision in going with the big six head, and giving the header problems time to work out favorably. Only time will tell.

I am talking with one US manufacturer about producing an economy header. They make headers, they just don't use mandrell bends. This means they are done like headers were back in the sixties, in which the pipes have small kinks in the bends. While it doesn't look as nice, they will still perform better than a stock exhaust manifold. The nice part, I'll be albe to sell them quite a bit cheaper. So that's a strong possiblity too. I like the idea of having a cheap header for those on a tight budget, and a top quality header for those who can afford them.

Anyway, if you need headers right away, don't wait on us as it may be a few more months before we have them back in stock.

Thanks Mike, for the update. I am going to hold off for now on the header and may just replace the pipe that is rusted through. Because I am on a tight budget I am focusing on getting the car running and the body in a state so that it doesn't allow for any rust to take over.

Once I get to that stage maybe you're headers will be available again. Once I get some more money towards the car I want to put on your small block header. So you're not off the roster by any means.

thanks,

jisham,

I have a clifford dual out long tube header for sale. It is used, but in very good condition. comes with collectors, collector gaskets and header manifold bolts.

I want $225.00 for it, but shipping is the problem.. I live in Canada and the last price i got for a fellow to ship to the US was $90.00.

anyway, if you are interested, let me know...
