All Small Six Falcon Six Performance Handbook Status

This relates to all small sixes

If others really want it then they can go search for themselves. I do understand the frustration.

We have a long and good relationship with that family. It goes back to our founding.
I believe John can keep that going (if not messed with) and also do something for the family
for the site and for others who might use the book and our site...

We Do Not want to repeat (restatement: I do not) what happened on a less complicated level (w/in or on)
our own site (subsequent to Mike W’s passing) to occur with this issue. I also would want good relations to exists as they are now.

Thank you for your work John. Good luck as U go along w/it.
78? I think I’ll put the letters “In” frnt of the 1st wrd under ur ‘handle’. aahahahaa

that’s unfortunate. Wouldnt wanna repeate it here.

Does the family have any younger family members that can help out...? I've written several books and have an audiobook as well. It wouldn't be hard for those family members to upload the book files to Amazon and make the book available through them on demand. Nothing to do beyond that point but sit back and get a check when one sells.....easy peasy!

they were not interested in (the work? the subject?) and the surviving bro (& author) has said he is willing to
continue the publication under some 1 else if of financial benefit to the offspring. I believe one of our members
is pursuing this idea with him. Not as easy as Will’s sell off of the remaining CI stock for Mike(’s family). We have
a good relation w/David. Y not continue that? No rush, one could read’s Matt’s while details are worked out:

Reading a pdf copy of the Falcon Six Performance Handbook made me want to buy a paperback version to read with out being on a computer.
Otherwise I never seriously thought about buying it.
A lot of the info in it or any info I needed was found by searching here for the posts of certain members and certain subjects.
This takes a lot of time which makes the cost well worth the price.

I talked with David a month or two ago. He said that his sister-in-law was working with some people to get it republished. He also mentioned that they could not find the disc that had the master copy on it, and were looking for it. I've not heard from them since and have no other information.

ahhhh... expanded outside of ‘immediate’
(is that how U say it) family. I
wish them ‘all the luck” !
Thnx 4 update John~

That's good that outside help is available to them. I had a copy of the book at one time, and if that is all someone had, it would be very easy to reproduce it with today's technology...

Yea, I don't think production is the long pole in this tent. My copy of the handbook is a simple spiral bound black and white lo-res vintage looking thing. The local Insty-Prints could crank out cases of them pretty much instantly. I imagine it's things like finance and distribution and billing that are the headaches here.

which could B spread out ina group like ours... 4 them (her).
Not sure but I bet Matt would take the retail-it end (he WAS).

There is a very high quality PDF version online that may be what is needed to reprint it. I believe it's the thirteenth edition August 2016.
An error or two should be fixed. The dual pattern bell housing on the high starter six came out in 1966 not 1967. This error is on page 40 and may be repeated.

Yes, on the colored block identification page between pages 68 and 69 in my edition it states the dual pattern started with the C8 200 blocks. It should say the C6 blocks introduced that feature. The C6 200 block in my car has the dual pattern. I'm not sure if the 170 blocks change at the same time.

I wonder if there are enough other glitches to make a dedicated handbook edit thread worthwhile. I also wonder if a GoFundMe page to provide a little capital to get the ball rolling would attract any donations. I've already got a Handbook, but I might pitch in a few bucks to help save that valuable resource, and to help out the family that has helped us so much.

do you know the sister-i-l John?
Is there a way for the leadership here to take a member’s proposal on paring one of
our more diplomatic, locally residing, or already interfacing members w/this woman
to forward the Handbook in any manner. (“Is there anything your having trouble with
we might help? Is a retailer a stuck point? We know a guy who used to sell it?” etc...

Donations to the Public Domain

A copyright owner can choose to surrender their rights in a certain work. This means that the work is released into the public domain so that anyone can use it.

It looks like the profits from the book sales were not used to continue the printing.

I have driven my log head 200 six powered vehicle as an only car since 1992.

This was not my first experience with a log head six.

My wife drove a great running 66 California emission 200 for 14 years before I bought my current car.

I also owned a 62 Ranchero 170 with a header and a 4 speed before I converted it to a 302 4V, C4, 8" 3.25 gears

All my success with the log head six was done without the "The Ford Falcon Six cylinder Handbook"

I can understand why Vintage Inlines and it's affiliate fordsix com would like to continue sales profits for "The Ford Falcon Six cylinder Handbook"

I don't know her personally but I did some digging and found an address. I don't think it would be appropriate to share that here, if at all (although I have shared David's contact information with a few others here, with David's permission). I was told the sister-in-law is working with some people already. I have no insight into who, whether there are issues (other than the lost disk), or anything else.

You'd have to ask the leadership that question. I can't speak for them. Please bear in mind I only did the work to get in touch with David to answer the "what happened to the Handbook" question here. I never had any intention of going beyond that, although I don't mind being a conduit to convey status from David if he chooses to update me from time to time.

All in all, I have to agree with the earlier statements and inferences that the handbook is a nice compilation of information, but all that information is available out there from other sources if one looks for it. I bought a copy a while back, read it, and got very little from it that I had not already seen here and elsewhere.

“... I never had any intention..."
ok, good, thnx 4 da clarity.

And , “Yes”, I dont seek any personal/private contact or other info
be publicly published.
"Thnx for ur end of the story." (Paul Harvey).

post #37:
this shows (2 me) less experience, it seems, w/the bigger motive:
Furthering these vehicles (w/o need for personal $ profit) to the general public (esp current owners).
It’s just a whole different perspective/biz model...
