firewall question

I'm removing the old I6 pedal to put in a v8 pedal and throttle cable for a new Holley 2100 2 bbl carb.

My question is what is the thickness of the firewall at the point where the pedal hinge is connected. I'm mostly concerned that it will strip out if I use a self tapping screw as I've removed and replaced the pedal once before.

I'd like to know if I can put a nut bolt combination in there...al depends on firewall thickness...is it single piece of steel or double with an air gap in between?

Thanks,
Steve-O

Single thickness, bolt and nut will be fine. Notice that's how your blower motor is mounted.

You may need a helper, unless weld tacking the bolt head to the pedal assembly. Also I suggest UNF as it seems to come loose slower than UNC; Nylocs if possible.
