Can someone help me? i cant remember but i believe there is a difference between a fly wheel and a flex plate? i have a 250 cid it came with an auto but i want to put a t-5 behind it? Thanks for your help

I HAD TO TRACK DOWN A FLYWHEEL FOR MY 250. ENDED UP GETTING IT FROM A GUY ON EBAY. LATER I LEARNED THAT ONE FROM A 300 MAY WORK. I HAD THE MACHINE SHOP USE THE FLEX PLATE FROM MY 250 TO BALANCE THE FLYWHEEL WHEN THEY HAD IT FOR RESURFACING. TRY EBAY.

The 250 uses same size 157 Tooth application Flywheel as Small Block Ford to @ '82. (289/302 etc..

Most SBF FW's are 28oz or 50 oz "external balance" . there were some that were internal balanced or "neutral" balance.

Often the "racing" SFI versions are reasonable priced on E-BAy. these are for SBF and Neutral or "bolt-on" balancers, which can be left off for 250 Six use.

The Comet 250 uses a CAT brand SFI "lightened" Neutal Balance 157 Tooth FW of E-Bay for @ $ 100.oo. FW has Centerforce Weighted Clutch Spin Cobra-T5 through Pony Cars adapter to SBF Toploader V8 Bellhousing and . The 157 tooth FW is the only one will fit Bellhouses available for 250 I am aware of.

the one that is on the motor has 157 teeth bu ti think its a flex plate, ( doesnt look like the flex palte posted in the first reply?) its not flat on the back side, the center sits in a little.
