I still haven't tested the first FMX/AOD to Aussie Ford Six adaptor in the world. That accolade awaits Econoline-64, another forum member here.
It is easier to by the C4 cast iron bellhousing which Ford Australia bolted to there imported C4 gearboxes. The flexplate is a 160 teeth Aussie item, which uses the same 3 post Aussie starter as the BW 35. This can replaced by the later 2003 modle starters if you want all new gear.
The C4's were used as options for towing or taxi or buyer prefrence until the early 80's.
Ford Australias standard transmission was the Jeep/Volvo style BW 35/40/51 transmissions from 1964 until the last 1993 utes. It was made in Australia for Fords, Valiants, Volvos and even some of the front drive Morris 1800. It can be rebuilt, but its not easy to get the parts unless you know a suplier from Australia.
The C4 was an option from 1969 to mid 1980. No alloy head Falcons came with it. After 1982, Ford upgraded there BW35 to a modle 40, and then to a 51 in 1988, but it was always the same transmission
All Aussie I6 C4's, no mater what engine size, have the same Aussie bellhousing.
