SALE PENDING - Be the first kid on your block to have a set of these extremely hard to find retainers! Lighter and thinner than the standard two-piece retainers, they are recommended in the Falcon Six Handbook. The springs are NOS Ford 240 Police/Taxi exhaust valve springs. They have been installed in a head but were never run. I think they were made by TRW. Stiffer than the stock springs, but not quite as stiff as the 302 springs sometimes used. Suitable for a mild cam or a car with a stock automatic transmission that won't see very high RPMs. Suitability for use in your application is up to you. There are 12 of the springs but 16 retainers. If you can find just one 221/early 260 cylinder head's worth more, you'll have enough for a second 6 cylinder set. The graph posted below shows the relative stiffness of the springs. Sorry it's not nicer but it was originally just some notes for me, and was not meant for public consumption. The vertical scale is spring height, and the horizontal scale is spring pressure. The top two horizontal lines are the installed spring height, stock two-piece retainer at 1.590", and 1.640" with the .05" thinner one-piece retainer. The two bottom horizontal lines are the spring height with the valves open, assuming a standard cam and rockers, and are again with the standard and the thinner one-piece retainers. The five diagonal lines show the relative stiffness of the standard springs, standard springs shimmed .06", some 289 springs, the 240 springs offered here, and the 302 springs sometimes used. It's been a long time since I was in that physics class, I'm not sure if the spring height/pressure relationship is perfectly linear. But this does show the relative stiffness of the various springs, and values should be pretty close at the top and bottom of the spring height range. The numbers next to the spring line labels are the spring height where the coils start to bind. $100 for the 12 springs and 16 retainers, plus $12 for USPS shipping in the USA only.
