FORD FE ROCKERS ON A 250?

would only take a length of 1.5"x1.5"solid AL stock and an afternoon on a mill

coming up with a pleasing design took way longer than the machine work - about one week:

they are designed to work with the stock rocker arm design, albeit fitted with axial needle bearings.
I also thought about retrofitting the rockers with needle bearings, but scrapped that idea quickly- forced oil lubrication is superior to needle bearings in the long run.

so, what did you come up with. Does a set of FE Rockers fit the 200? Did anyone try it? And if so what did you do to make it fit?

yeah that is exactly what I was thinking Simon!!

worst case is the hole might be offset to one side and you might have fun having a hardened shaft made (granted if the FE rockers are a large shaft you could just bronze bush them to fit)

You may be able to get the FE rockers to work, but the problem is that you won't get much return for your work and in the end it may be more cost effective to just get a 2V or aluminum head.

The log head is so restricted that increasing valve lift doesn't do much. The airflow stalls and increasing the valve opening doesn't' improve the flow rate. That's the big reason that large cams don't work on these engines as well as better heads do.

For example, bolting on a 2V head with no other changes gets you a dyno proven 35 hp over a log head. But getting 35 extra horses out of a log takes some doing. You really have to port the heck out of it to be able to take advantage of any extra lift, especially on the exhaust side.

I think I have seen a post on the net were a statement was 390 rockers will work on the 200 head but that was all it said... It was when I was doing research on the OZ 2V head(which I bought) that might be the fuel of the question.

I often wondered why I never seen anything about 390 rockers till the past month, and I have never seen a tech article about it...might just be a wives tale.

Ok, so the way I understand, no one has put FE rockers on the small 200. There are a couple sets on e-bay Why doesn't someone buy them (about $20) and give it a try. I would buy a set and all I can do is bolt them on, that's about my expertise.
