my granada is a 1980 and it came with the 250 in it stock but i swore i had a 8 inch and so did everybody else but when i pulled the rear a few weeks ago it turns out its a 9 inch so i had to send the parts back to summit for the 9 inch ones. i have never seen a 6 cylinder granada with a 9 inch rear is this special or? i dunno i was just curious about what some of you had to say.

The came stock with 9 inchers too...but yea...i havent seen to many around too....how do u tell again if its a 9 as apposed to 8....i know u hold .5 pints more in the 9, but can u tell by looking at it? U got yourself lucky though with the 9" (except for having to reorder the parts)

the last two grandes i got rear ends out of in the yards were 9" They were both 6 cyl cars.

Easiest way to tell the 8 from the 9 is that the bottom bolts/nuts on a 9 inch you can only fit a wrench on, there's not enough room for a socket+ratchet.

And the 9 inch housings have that 'bump' in the back for ring gear clearance (except for the 57-59's I think, but how many of those do you see?) and the 8 inch housing is a smooth round shape.

close enough to a granada

i sent the parts back to summit they gave me 80% of what it cost because it was more than 2 years old so it worked out pretty good. i also got a detroit locker for it so it should hook up really nice. im really glad i have the 9inch because its easier to get parts for, like better axles and what not. i wish i could post a pic of my car but 1. its really ugly right now and really rough looking and 2. no digital camera. lastly i got a phone call today from a buddy of mine with a bunch of mopars but he is always selling parts. so he offered me 2 heads with 4 barrel intakes full roller rocker assembally and a bunch of other parts for ford inlines but i think its for 300's but thts fine with me and its all for $75

so that will be the next plan
