Forged Pistons made in Argentina!!!!!

I've consulted a place in Argentina that manufactures forged pistons, they can custom make a set. I just need to send them the specs that I need. I'm thinking of ordering a set but I still don't have all specs I should give them. I want them to be a bolt-on, no major mods done to the block or con-rods.
These are the specs I have:

-Oversize .040 Inch
-3.72" Bore
-Rings Grooves (2) 5/64" And (1) 3/16"
-1.50" Compression Distance
-Recessed Head .105" Deep x 2.320" Dia.
-Wrist Pin diameter and leght ???????

-Anything else ????

Also one more thing, this is for a nitrous application, should I order them flat top or dished, I'm currently using between 10:1 and 10.5:1 with dished pistons and a 280H cam.

These are the approximate costs they gave me:

-Forged pistons (6) $300
-Forged wrist pins (6) $60
-Wrist pin locks (12) $7
-Moly rings (set) $50

I'm really looking forward to doing this, but I don't wanna get it wrong

Thanks guys!

BTW I aslo sent them the specs in millimeters for those of you that deal with this, please confirm my conversions...

> 9.2:1 Compression Ratio
> 94.49mm Bore
> Ring Grooves
> (2) 1.98mm (1) 4.76mm
> 38.1mm Compression Distance
> Recessed Head 2.67mm Deep x 58.93mm Dia.

Hi Alex,

221 and 188 engines are VERY common in Argentina still and a lot of guys are hotrodding them. Sounds to me like you don't need anything custom at all. There are a lot of forged pistons being made for the falcon six engines there... just tell them you want some forged pistons for a 188/221 motor - they should have them in stock!

Hey John. Pibe...I looked at the IAPEL Pistons website. They show some piston specs for the 188/221 engines. I would have thought that they would have the same specs as the US 200, but apparently they don't. Do you know if the pistons are basically the same???

Alex, I would maybe check on the wrist pin diameter. I believe it's 0.9122" in the US 200s. Other than that, the bore and the compression height looks good. I would even bet our rings would work. I think you can probably get a set for under U$S 200 right now. That's almost 550 Arg pesos.

Thanks John. I e-mailed another manufacturer Pistones IASA the guy there insists that they have to be custom made  . That Argie pistons and American pistons are different....arghhh!!!! Would Martin know ???? How is he anyway, haven't seen him here lately.
I also tried consulting in the Enfierrados forum, but they didn't know....

I asked Martin about this thread. He wasn't sure. I don't see how different they can be. Look at the history. The Argies just adopted the 221 from Ford Australia.... right? And their pistons are the same as ours.... why would Ford change something like that???

All that can be different is the wrist pin diameter and maybe the ring specs, but if you use their rings that isn't a concern....

No reason not to go with 5/64, but 1/16 compression rings don't have the durabiluty issues that .043 compression rings seem to have.

Another point to consider on custom pistons is ring location. On naturally aspirated, I's put the top ring down .180 from the top of the piston (excluding crown or dish), with the distance to the second land also at .180, with the grooves at .150. This will help wick combustion heat away quicker

If turbo or supercharged, put the rings further down the piston for better detonation resistance

Stock Ford 200/2.3HSC/250'S 0.275 thou to the top of the ring land.

Those look plenty good, but I no speak the langauge,
