I read in all these post. I used to run a Weber 32/36, but now I have changed.

Why did you change?

What did you change to?

What improvements did you see over the Weber 32/36 carb?

Thanks

same Qs back atcha, friend…
plus:

what I6 do U have (I assume that's what's in yer vehicle)?

What mods besides < carb > have been done to the engine (B4 & after carb switch) if any?

Thanks ~

I started out with the 32/36 back when my engine was basically a stock '66 200 with a Duraspark ignition, headers, and a COMP 260h cam. It was on the 2-1 adapter. I liked it a lot, except I felt like I needed to floor it if I wanted to get the car to move, so I tried the 38/38. Definitely felt more power in normal driving, but I could never get a steady idle out of it... for me it was difficult to tune, and was constantly swapping jets to try to get it to be somewhat reliable.

After I upgraded to a modified large log head, I did a direct mount with the Autolite 2100 (1.08). It's hard to compare to the Webers because I swapped the head at the same time, but it's really a great carb. Reliable, smooth, no flat spots... and never had to mess with jets. Just put it on, turned the 2 mix screws, and according to my A/F gauge it's pretty much dialed in all the time.

sounds like ur lookin 2 get even more outta 'er?

Not sure how U "modified a large log head" but
the 260 cam and
Weber 38/38

these 3 outta out perform the sm log, stock cam and 32/36 Weber.

Let's C what the others have to say (I'm low rev, hi tq seeker) - may take awhile 4 them 2 show up tho…
(thread worded "best performance 260, 38/38, modified lrg log" may get U more action?)

Been out of pocket for a while.......

I am currently running a1965 stock I6 200 putting in a T-5, I have a large log head to replace the small log, but am trying to decide what I want to do carb wise. I was going to shave the head and do a direct mount but not sure now.

Reading Classic Mustang seems like they recommend the weber, but like the topic state, when you read on here everyone says I used to run weber, but most don't mention what they went to or why.

If it was my vehicle and wanted to stay with a 1 barrel it would be a Carter off a 250 most likely or if available an Autolite 1101 also from the 250. Either one would take some work. It is discussed in detail in the Handbook. Also definitely at the same time the DSII and have it custom curved.
For a direct mount most seem to use the 2100 and are getting good results. And the DSII.

Hi Nick,
You got 2 'trucks' (4.1L) & another stang as answers. I don't believe any of us hit the nail on the head for you.

The bronks go off rd and the weber needs adaptation for that (fuel starvation on the gradients).
Sorry I can't add more - I shy away from the Weber (the 32/36 would be a great one for me due to progressive nature) because I have little tuning experience. They are 'set-it-&-forget-it' from what I hear tho. I also have hood clearence issues & the Weber is over 4 inches, don't wanna direct mount. Now six side draft webers might be the trick for me!
