I'm not sure where this would be posted but here goes

While studying the issue of installing a fuel cell in my car I've come up with a question that might be answered by someone smarter than me :P I'm looking at a 16 gal cell that measures 25"X17"X9", my hole in the floor is 32"X26", I want to relocate my battery to the trunk and install an electric fuel pump also.

Is there a safety issue if I construct a steel or aluminum well in the floor 32"X18" and set the battery just in front of the fuel cell, and the electric fuel pump beside the battery?

I can also make the well slightly longer than 32" and put a steel divider between the battery and the cell if needed.

I'm looking for a clean install and thought this might be slick :?

See Ya,

we removed most of the trunk floor and welded square tubing to the frame assy. using straps the cell was hung under the tubing well behind the rear. a new floor was constructed to cover, as well as provide for fire. a small door was added to access the filler. the batteries are contained in plastic battery boxes with proper holddowns, not straps. and the fuel pump is located, level with the cell at the rear, with a good filter and 1/2" tubing suppling the fuel forward.
