wife was getting her hair done last night...so in the parking lot I whipped out my wrenches and changed the fuel pump....

it runs smoother now. I assume the pressure is more constant. I wasnt able to test top end but around town, it was nice. I will have to do some re-tuning the carb but...for $18...an nice change

Yeah I am fixn' to do the same, my fuel pump is only putting out 3 psi. I thought it was the regulator, but by-passed it and wa-la. Must have alot of crud in it as seen in the filter I recently replaced. Now will run 2ea filters, one in front and one behind pump. Later.

thats what I am doing ...two filters, one before one after

drivavbility increased greatly.....let me know how your driving is afterwards kirk....

Chaz,

Unbeliveablely it ran better that it has before, lower rpms idling and smoother. I also upped the timing a bit more to about 12 BTDC and could actually spin those 33" tires and keep them spinning (thats w/ 7.5 to 1 CR, too). No pinging yet, but I think with all the WFO I blew a hole in the carb to manifold gasket (vacuum leak somewhere, now when idling it fluctuates from 650 to 1400 rpms). Just something else to work on.
Have a good one.

yeah...but wasnt it nice? I have to up my timing now that it is getting constant pressure. I backed by mixture off a bit (running rich) now lets see...

I tried adjusting a bit but with 30-40mph winds on sat, it was hard to even hear the car...

let us know once you fix that vacuum leak
