the autozone here lists 2 different fuel pumps for the 200 the one listed when I asked for a '72 is different # than the one for a '80? was there really any difference... they only stock the pump for the '80 mustang?

I don't have a clue, but I just went in this a.m. to Oreilly's and the guy is suppose to have it this afternoon. I just asked for one to fit a 68' 200. I know some of the guys run the older canister type. I think there may be a difference in the PSI on some---one of them is advertised by autozone as putting out only 2.5 to 4.5lbs. if that is the one the guy has he can keep it---I will need at least 7lbs for the [/code]2300/500 holley from what I have read here. I think wsa111 is running a mechanical and an electric. Mustangaroo and Does10's did something with the diaphragm to keep up the pressure...Mustangaroo has a post explaining a bit on that...process. Myself--I am in the initial start up phase. I only know of the two aforementioned mechanical pumps---but if you find a performance pump to fit our 200's I would be interested.

well I was looking at the pic on the autozone website and the one listed for the'80 mustange looked like it has a slightly different arm than the other one listed... will stop by and check it out in a bit

Well, here are pics of the fuel pump that came off on the left and the new one on the right...there are a few differences..the new one has a couple of holes in the casing..the old one doesn't have these holes and the new one has the upper hose attachment positioned slightly different...neither of which the guy at the parts said would make a difference...Possibly---he is right but I will keep the old one just in case. He could not find anything on either regarding pressure specs.

Oh, and the number for the new one is 6399 at Oreilly's if you have one around you. It is an AirTex, or something like that not a motorcraft.

Price: $21.66 w/tax here

I went an looked at the one for the '80 and it is very different... it is upside down and the arm is reversed, wont work with an earlier engine? didn't know that it ever changed

*edit

the nearests orileys is about a 5 hour drive  I ordered a carter made pump off of rockauto
