Pretty sure that's where I got mine from last year. I've been very happy with it so far. I got it on eBay and they shipped everything out right away, no issues with them at all.

the only thing I change in them is the capacitor to eliminate radio radio interference. but I listen to AM mostly. that huge coil is high output.

I changed the springs to adjust the curve. Pretty much all I've had to do. I left the vac advance alone. Once I have my head and cam installed, it'll be time to look at the total package a bit more closely. I knew I'd be doing the head this year so I didn't see the point of messing with the setup to try to dial it in all the way. Somewhere I wrote down what I changed but I don't remember offhand what it was I did. But I've been tracking all this kind of stuff in a log book.

You need to have it recurved for our 6 cyl.
Out of the box, it is not optimized.

Talk to wsa111, he can set you up.

its made for these engines. as long as it goes full advance off idle its good to go imo

Getting the advance curve "right" for your cam/carb/etc can make a big difference in performance, especially at part throttle.

Steel cam gear is not compatible with a cast camshaft.
Each Ford six engine requires a different total advance. Good luck with your purchase, but you have no idea of advance totals, both centrifugal & vacuum.

the cam gears have worked well in all my other engine builds. don't know why it wont here too.

Because the distributer gear needs to be softer then the cam, as it is easier/cheaper to change the distributer gear, then the cam when it wears.

I am not impressed.
Sounds like a cheap DUI or a HEI.
I called them today & the phone monkey had no idea of any specs. Needless to say I never received a phone call back as to the specs.
All my DS11's are specifically calibrated to the application.
For $115.00 they have to be overseas junk.
I will still will recurve DUI's cause they a backed by a local quality company.
I would like to see one before i could even consider recurving Skip White's products.
DS11's are the best & let my customers speak up??? Bill

skip and fred white have been fueding now for several years. fred is the elder, a cancer servivor and now has sold his business and renting out his machines to a former employee of skips business. he took 6-8 of skips employees with him so skip had to hire some new folk and there just learning about day to day things. I,am not sticking up for either of them in fact I,am not impressed with the whole white family for that matter. I,ve know them both for 20 yrs. but there prices and quality of parts is very fair. theres room for every vendor ,just more options . jmo ,,,,, not to diss anybody.

Bob, i'll eat my words about the distributor. I would like to pull one apart & check it out.
Since you know the family you give me a different aspect of the product.
The DUI by Performance Distributors is a unit with a slip in adapter to make it fit the ford six.
The DUI has oiling issues because of this adapter.
Measure the length & let me know. Thanks Bill

bill,
call me some evening and I,ll get it in front of me and well disscuss it. or if you like I can send it to you for recurve, also theres no adapter to make it work. its engine specific.

Bob, this distributor even appears to have a vacuum chamber that is adjustable via an allen wrench. Does it adjust vacuum or advance??? There is a good chance the centrifugal total might be 10 distributor degrees X 2 =20 total????? + initial.
The DUI's that Mike all had that total from performance distributors. On most applications it is a poor choice.
For that price it is made in China or Taiwan.
You stated that you have had no problems with gear wear. If the gear is a melonized gear it would be compatible with a cast cam as well as a cast steel camshaft.
Gear wear is a major problem with Ford in general.
GM did it right on the gear, but being at the rear of the camshaft it creates a large amount of spark scatter from camshaft torsional deflection & aggravated by the pulsations from the oil pump. Using a Moroso anti-cavitation oil pump cut the spark scatter by 50%. Ford at least put the gear at the front of the camshaft or close to it.
I have done a lot of GM HEI's so i'm hoping the top plate where the rotor mounts is the same as the original GM units??
I still like the Ford Duraspark distributors cause the spring tab is adjustable & that makes it a lot easier to adjust the curve.
cr-_bobcat> is also going to give me some more info on this distributor.
I will give you a shout in a day or two, Bill
