i have been contemplating a new exhaust as have been posted on previous forums. i finally took it in yesturday and got 2 1/4 pipe to the back although i kept the same muffler because t was brand new we made a bracket for a dynomax in the futur i know t sounds a little odd but since i went up from 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 it feels like it gained a little hp is that really possible with just bigger pipes i know it does breath easier. also i'm not sure but has anyone ever heard of a 7.25 rear with a 200 have posi. when i burn out it seems both tires leave a slick on the road.

Yes you could definitely have gained a few horses with that exhaust system upgrade, especially on the top end. Congratulations on freeing up those ponies.

As far as the "posi" goes, there was a limited slip option on the 7.25 rear but it is pretty rare. Look for a tag on one of the rear cover bolts that reads something like "3L.20" (L for limited slip) instead of the typical "3.20". Or jack up the rear and spin one of the rear tires by hand (trans in nuetral)- if the opposite tire spins the same direction you have a limited slip, if it spins the opposite direction you don't. Over the years I have found that some friends who thought they had a "posi" really didn't, they just had a stick shift car with a light rear end so when they dropped the clutch both tires would spin because the traction just wasn't there to even plant one tire.

Good luck on finding a limited slip for your 7.25 diff.

I had an equaloc in my mustang several years ago, but sold it cause i could not find clutch disc's for the unit.

I lucked out about a year ago when i found a NOS detroit locker for my 7.25.

When i put my 8" in next month, i will be glad to sell the complete rear which has all new bearings or just the locker.

Believe me this thing hooks up.
