Got my x-flow today

Well, spent about 8 hours today unloading and sorting parts from our 40' container out of Melbourne. My x-flow made the trip here fine except that the oil pan was bashed in and split. It would not have been all bad but the guy I bought it from didn't drain the oil like he was supposed to do. We had a mess to clean up! Cool thing was the engine is complete. I have the whole wiring harness, Bosch VAF meter, intake ducting, airbox, and EEC-IV computer. The motor has a Saginaw style P/S pump and a early 80's Japanese import style A/C compressor. It doesn't look anything like the Sanden compressors we see over here on most cars. And, it doesn't look anything like the old York style compressors, thank god! We pushed the motor into the corner of a storage shed so I can finish my current project. I hope to start working on the x-flow sometime in late 2006.

Did you get the Globe wheels in the same box?

Oil pan is interchangeable from 1971 -> last crossflows, excepting the Cortina motors.

Hahaha! I got those globes about 60 days after I bought them off you. Just so you know, they look really fine on a 1969 Mustang.

As for the pan, it spilt at the drain plug. I'm not going to get another one instead I plan to weld in a "T" sump, w/baffles, on this one and increase the capacity to 6-7 qts (about 6.75-8 ltr).

The Air conditioning is by Ogura, who make air con pumps, superchargers, that kind of thing for Nissans and Toyo Kogyo (Mazda) products.

In Australia, earlier six cylinder Ford ones were by York, and were branded as 'Selectaire'. Six cylinder engines after the 70's had space limitations in the engine bay with the XD-XF Falcons, so Ford downsized the A/C pump. Up until 1978, it was the same as the York pumps found on US Cleveland and Lima V8's.

The 1984 XF, I think, ran a similar pump to the US market Mazda 929, also by Ogura.

Most of the stuff I deal with from Australia and new Zealand are XA-XC Falcons so I've gotten to be familiar with the busted York systems:)

I plan on keeping the A/C compressor and just having it rebuilt. It's nice and small.
