I don't think I'm gonna hop into hardcore 200 performance, everyone.

I've become pretty attached to my Maverick, and I love the 200 for how tough it is. I don't really care to do any detrimental damage to it. Therefor, since I want to... y'know... keep it... I'm going to go for mild performance.

... Ok, maybe not mild... but SIMPLE.

Keeping log manifold, going with a two-barrel carb, supercharger on about 5lbs of boost. The only reason I want to run boost so I can run on lower RPM's of power... that's all.

8) not a bad plan. these little sixes are tough, you almost need a nuclear warhead to break these things. dont be afraid to hop up the six, but at the same time you have to be comfortable with any mods you make.

Exactly how I feel about it. I know some people who go through motors like they are paper towels, and I just... don't really see the point in it. I may actually build the motor up before I get it fully blown, as I want to make sure this motor can take a lot more than it normally can, and that is apparently saying a lot!

Well good luck on whatever path u take ur six on. Mine has been a long winding road myself. If I am lucky I will be firing it up soon after 2 yrs of slow work rebuilding my motor. I have done alot and I already know I will be doing more. It never ends :wrench: :smash:

my old 170 had 140k on it when I pulled it.....ran as good or better then when I got the car with 104k on it. I ran it on the interstate at 70mph for 4 hours straight a bunch (200 mile stretch of highway) with no problems ever coming up

I picked up a rebuilt 200 a couple years back and I am boosting that right now and it has been abused withthe boost and still no problems from it. having a small bore helps out since the piston top is more solid I think. as does having a short stroke

Pretty much. I figured that, depending on which supercharger I pick, I should be able to net over 200HP @ 5000RPM easily... even if I run low boost. This is how I figure that I can make that kind of power...

On an article I read, there's supposedly a real easy way to figure out how much power a car can have by the size of the engine, its stock horsepower, how efficient it is, ect.... and this is the general equation on how efficient stock 200 I6's are...

200 * 4000(assumed HP peak) = 800,000ci/m

800,000 / 2 (because intake stroke comes every other revolution) = 400,000

400,000 / 1728(to convert to cfm) = 231.481*

231.481* x .069 (to convert to lb/min) = 15.97

Now, from the site I got this info, an observation lead the author to believe that simply multiplying that will give you the HP potential, so... roughly speaking, 160 HP.

93/160 = 58.125 %

Now, that's all ricermatics... On a more realistic level, I bet I'll probably only see about 180-185 RWHP.... which is fine by me, since it'll be getting boost and all at 5000RPM, but you can correct me for being wrong. I know there are a lot of things I don't know about cars, but what I do know is these engines are seriously underrated due to the log manifold... damn log manifold...

However, won't positive pressure from a blower help fuel distribution as well as overcome the issue of the restrictive log manifold? Just curious... I plan on having a different set-up for a higher HP goal later down the road, though. Far down the road...

I'll try to stay updated as often as I can. Right now, I'm just removing the head and putting seat inserts as well as possibly having the head milled slightly just to make sure there is no warpage. I doubt there should be. Oh, and I plan on getting headers... gee... I may very well love doing this kind of thing!

See, what happens, u get bit by the bug and ur list of goodies gets longer and longer :rolflmao:

a turbo can be sized to give low end power. it will also make its boost over a wider rpm range

Yeah. I'm considering it. However, I've read somewhere that turbos aren't kind to boost <7lbs.

im thinking about supercharging my 200; and i was looking at the Rotrex units. check them out they sound realy trick.
