Head Questions

Ok guys, this is massively off topic, but no current members of Tempo land have done any head work. I figure since my engine is basically a 200, missing 2 cylinders. Maybe you guys can help.

I just got my extra HSO head off today. Basically the HSO engine is the same block as the HSC with a more aggressive cam, more open head, and larger bores on the intake & exhaust manifolds.

Can you guys give me some tips on where to start tinkering with this head and what to do with it now that I have it off. Eventually I want to port and polish it, but your talking to a complete novice. I've read several members sites about porting and polishing, and I've checked the standard abrasives site on porting and polishing.

The question comes down to Is this something I can do on my own?. Remember this is an extra head, so I can afford to make a mistake. Also is this a thing where I should break down and buy Dennis & David's book before I start?

Anyways, I hope to have pictures tomorrow.
