HI
I just looked over the sticky on the 144/250 head swap and it said that the 200 and the 250 used the same head after 77. So if I had the early 200 (say 66) would I be better off putting a 77/78 200 head on it instade of a 250 so I wouldn't have the milling to acheve cr probluems?
Thanks
Tim

Howdy Tim:

The 200/250 heads have the same volume combustion chambers in the '77-'78 cylinder heads. The 200 and 250 are identical. The Larger chambers heads were introduced in 1969 on the introduction of the 250 I6. They were later used on 200 and 250s to reduce CR and to meet emission standards.

It won't matter if the 77/78 head is off of a 200 or a 250, you will still need to mill the head to compensate for the difference in chamber volume and gasket thickness. Sorry.

Adios, David

OH POOP
Thanks David I was just trying to cut corners.. Getting ready to order a 200 short block for my comet that had a 170 in it. I was given a 200 block I am going to use for a core. I guess the extra 30 cu well be a nice incress in power anyway. Thanks again
Tim
