Head Work

Hey, I have been working on my new head i picked up for the last month. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions before i put it on. So far i have made a custom intake for 2 more 1bbls, port polished the exhaust, valve job, stock valves. The head is a 69 flatop manifold. Im gonna put the head on and see how it runs, then i plan to add bigger valves and backcut the intakes. I would appreciate and suggestions.

thanks,

Curtis, when you back cut the valves also do the exhaust as well as the intake. Remember they both flow gases. I have seen the proof on flow bench tests on intake as well as exhaust. Any way to smoothe the flow of air is benificial on both ends. On the exhausts you can also smoothe the sharp edge of the valve at the top of the margin at the top of the valve.
This is a cheap way of helping air flow, regardless of what head you have, aussi, argie, modified log or just a standard valve job. To prove how serious i feel i even backcut both valves on my lawnmower. William

Curtis,

Since this setup should really come alive at higher rpms, what about adding stiffer springs to prevent valve float. Just a thought.

I'm currently fabbing up some mounting blocks out of aluminum to do the same mod. Got any tips on the linkage?

For the linkage i just used two stock 6cyl base plates with the linkage. The carb mounted up and it polted to the head.Im only gonna run two carbs instead of 3 since 3 is overcarburation.
