Header alignment questions

This is for a 1968 200ci engine.

I recently purchased a header from Mike at FSPP. I am having trouble aligning the header so all the openings for the bolts line up with the openings for the bolts on the engine. All the bolts seem to go in properly except for the bolt on the bottom closest to the firewall. I can't get the header lined up so all the bolt openings match. I am using the correct gasket from NAPA. Can I not align the bolt openings properly because the head has warped slightly? Can I use a dremel tool to widen the bolt opening on the header?

Thank you,

Justin

I'd say Dremal away. As long as you're not grinding away a ton of material, a little won't hurt. Try to stay as close to the gasket holes/alignment as possible, if not exact. That is the one thing that should be correct and not subject to machine intolerance or warping.

The Dude, huh? Are you a fan of The Big Labowski? Great movie for those that haven't seen it. From the dudes that brought you Raising Arizona.

Yes, he is great in that role. I just bought that movie two weeks ago after renting it 3 or 4 times.

Be sure to wait for some more reponces to your header question. There are much more knowledgable people that should be heard from before you have at it.

Now give back the rug!

Mine fit a little tight too... that one was one of the tighter ones... the hole just barely is off...

I found if I started that one... then the centers... then the front... it fit...

did you get them coated? that was the reason mine were tight the added coating makes the already snug alignment tighter.

Yes, I ordered the coated headers.\

I found if I started that one... then the centers... then the front... it fit...

Maybe I will try that tomorrow. Dremel action will be plan B. :D

Thanks
