Header Question

tri-power 250

Well-known member
I have been reading about dual plane intake manifolds. From what I have gathered, in the inline 6 case, the plenum design for a dual plane intake, the runners for one plane would go to intake ports 1-5-3 and the other plane would go to intake ports 6-2-4. This is based on the ignition firing order, 1-5-3-6-2-4. The intake I was looking at is the 2000-2005 Jeep 4.0 HO. Though I do not know what the plenum looks like.
If this is correct, for the tri-y header, would the header tubes line up with exhaust ports 1-5-3 and 6-2-4 for correct scavenging?

Wrong on both counts.
Both the intake and exhaust would be split 1-2-3 and 4-5-6

This gives 240° of crank rotation between successive pulses. Look at the intake and exhaust manifolds on an EFI 300.
