Header Recommendation?

My headers came in today and they are HEAVY. A whopping 26 lbs. Any ways the tubes are nice but it looks so clumsy. I will put them on next week let you guys know how they are. PS I bought the black coated ones (Paint was already pealing)

Ok, I done it now…!

There has been some talk about this header so it tried it:

I bought the uncoated 6 into 1 header from mustangs unlimited.
I put it in my '65 stang that has a 250 in it.
I was able to bolt it in but the collector flange hit the bellhousing.
(jahearne told me it would so I ordered the uncoated ones) (thanks)

On to the remedy:
With it bolted up solid, I wedged a little bit of a screwdriver between the collector and the bell, heated all the pipes using a blue-tipped hatchet and let it cool slowly.
I then repeated once more after wedging the collector out a little farther.
It really looks like it worked.
It needs to take a trip to the muffler shop to mod the downpipe (unless I can make that work too)

I am not RECOMMENDING this to anyone, just saying it can be done.

Another solution is cutting a pie shape out of the outboard side of the collector, pushing it together and welding it up. It would give the collector tip a "kick-out"

Not sure if I can get good pix, but I will try if someone wants them.

also: I e-mailed Mustangs Unlimited to let them know it does not work on a 250 but if they could get the supplier to kick the collector out 1/2" it would...

mustangsunlimited.com sells a pretty short set, its only a single out though. http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy ... y=emustang

well, i just tried to order one but they are backordered 2-3 weeks...
this is getting more frustrating by the minute. ( i am the type that takes forever to make up my mind, but when i do, i'm all out of patience!)

They have an unpainted/unchromed version of that header which could be ceramic coated for beauty, heat control and longer life.

Header, Unpainted Steel for 1963-1977 Ford 144, 170, 200, & 250 6-Cylinder.

They also have a black painted version:

Header, Black Painted for 1963-1977 Ford 144, 170, 200, & 250 6-Cylinder.

I don't know if either of those are in stock or back ordered, however.

Hi 1969_mustang_coupe,
I have a 76 Mav with a 250 and removed A/C. Can you send a picture the shows how you ran the water line from the water neck around the compressor? If I get that info. I can add back the compressor, then have A/C.
Thanks in advance,
Ken
