I'm sure I'm not the only guy who saw this, but had to post....Last weekend there was a particularly scruffy guy selling parts out of the bed of his ranchero at the Pensacola show. He was one booth over, so after we got set up I wandered over. Mostly Cleveland stuff, no thanks...but a one outlet sixer header....Hey ! Went to check it out, looked good, just a little surface rust through what looked like ceramic coating, supposedly for a 200 engine....I'm getting interested....Until I see a rust through hole the size of a quarter where the tubes bend at the bottom to join the collector. This was not easily seen as it was toward the inside of the grouped tubes, and if I had not picked it up and really inspected I'd have missed it. I pointed this out to the guy, and he shrugged saying he was only asking $100....what a ripoff!?!

Oh, I thought you were gonna say that somebody swiped those headers!

I saw that guy as he was packing up for the evening Saturday. Didn't look at those too closely, cuz I've got some new ones.

He was calling them six-banger hookers; sounded like I'd need to wear protection.....

Yeah i looked at those also, They looked ok till i saw that hole in it too. i was thinking of picking them up and reselling them over evilbay! but when i took a closer inspection i noticed the hole also.

BTW did u see that Gt350 clone with the 03 Cobra moter in it, that thing was sweet!

All used parts at swap meets are caveat emptor. The guy wasn't a thief, just trying to maximize his return on investment. Anyone who pointed out the hole and offered him $25 probably would have made a purchase. Shame on you if you buy used parts without inspecting them as completely as possible.

Agreed Stranger, that we all have to look over parts well before ywe buy them.

What I did not explain was that I asked the seller what motort they fit, what they were coated with, and other questions. He replied with something general like "They'll make a nice addition to a 200 engine." NEVER did he disclose that they had a huge hole in them - and that's just plain dishonest.

I maintain that without disclosing that huge flaw, selling them for $100 is thievery. I'd never knowingly pass along a bad part to another mustanger. :?
