Hi all
My comet just croked the other day.. no spartk..
I've replace the module on the fender, changed the coil to a know working one. poured gas down the carb to make sure it just wasn't getting gas What or how do I check the dizzy to see if it is working? :bang:
OH
61 comet
66 200 cu.
OH it has power to and thru the coil.
Thanks
tim

That leaves the pickup coil in the distributor or a lack of a good ground to the engine block and or the distributor body. Lastly also check the leads out of the distributor with volt / ohm meter and for clean connections to harness or cuts or deteriated insulation letting them ground out to the distrib. Body. Good luck

Bubba, i believe if you ohm the pickup coil the range is 400-800 ohms.
This is a long shot but is the distributor shaft turning when cranking the engine?
Are the rotor & cap in good condition-no carbon arcs?
Check the secondary wire from the coil to the distributor cap. Good luck Bill

I concur. Try simple, easy, cheap things first.

Connect an AC volmeter to the leads out of the distributor with nothing else connected to them, then crank the engine. You should see about 3-5VAC. If you don't see anything at all then you know your pick up has a fault.

Also check the wiring grommet color on the modual. They are different and may not all be wired the same. Replace with the same color.

ok I've replaced the dizzy still no spark. I have power to coil + and out coil - ... power to the the red wire in to the control module power in the green wire going back to the module but no power to any other wires and no spark??????
module is new and blue tab same as what came out. :bang:
OH yes the rotor is turning

check the gap between the module and the cam, if too wide it will not pick up the magnetic sensor, and use plastic gauge, do not use a metal one.
