Hi all. I'm helping a buddy with his 56 customline that his step dad had had the motor rebuilt years ago. Anyways, he had a bad knock. I pulled the pan and #6 connecting rod bearing was shot, but had not spun. All the others were close also. I had a machine shop order me a set of bearings that I picked up Fri late afternoon. Went to install them Sunday afternoon and they were about 3/16" wider than originals(13/16" and 1"), although the diameter was perfect and they fit in the cap perfectly.
I remember doing some research and finding a difference between early and late 223's. Late being 60-64, I believe, but someone please correct me on this. The owner of the shop ordered me the late model bearings because he said that was all that he had listed.
The motor has a C3AE 8015 F block cast.
The crank has a C1AE F cast #
The main caps have a C2AE 6327/29 cast
The rod caps have a C1AE cast #
What motor do I have? Is it a 223? And how do I go about getting the correct rod bearings for it?!
Thanks in advance for any info/clarification/advice!!
