Hole by power steering mount on 200 Six

There is a hole by the power steering threaded mounting holes on my 200 six on my Mustang. Looks like crankcase gases are coming out of it. Is there supposed to be a freeze plug or somthing in it? I don't think it should be open. Is it hurting my engine running it like that?

Yes, depending on what setup the motor has, the hole either has a road draught tube or metal plug.

The plug requires you to fit a two-hole rocker cover with PCV valve in one of the holes. Road draught tube works with the old rocker cover that only has the forward hole for oil filling/cap.

I have the two-hole cover with PCV valve. If I buy a freeze plug kit, will the one I need be in it, or do I need to buy something else?

You'll probably need to measure the hole with a dial caliper and then buy a freeze plug that size to plug it. I don't believe it's in the kit.

IIRC, it's a 1" plug. That's where the road draft tube used to go on the earliest engines. On later engines, it was blocked off and a PCV was used.

So, I've been thinking about the PCV situation. I have a road draft tube on my car. Can I just put a grommet there and stick a PCV in to route to the intake? Seems like it would work better than having the inlet and valve both in the same valve cover.

And I wouldn't have to buy a new valve cover or drill a hole in this one.

Awesome. I figured it would work all right, but wasn't sure.

Now the car will emit, what, 40% less emmissions!

I like my road draft tube. It reminds me of a simpler time, when cars spewed whatever they could into the atmosphere...

PCV is about the only system that lets the engines work better & live longer.

Here's a pic of what the block looks like in '66:

It looks like the internal passage for the Road Draft Tube was retained through '66.

Here's the '67 & later:
