Holley 1904's for boost

So guys, I was tossing around the idea of doing a supercharged triple carb blow-through setup.

Now is this even a good idea? I've got a bunch of Holley 1904's laying around, but I don't know how easy it would be to modify them for boost, or even to keep them from blowing gas all over my engine. If a 3-1 setup is viable, do you guys have suggestions for carbs?

Also, would I wanna try a progressive linkage? I'm unsure of some details right now, but it does seem like that could into an incredible pain in the ass...

Oh, and I'd be running a 250 with a centrifugal-type blower (prolly Paxton), and I'm gonna say around 8lbs of boost.

Thanks,
Brian

Yeah, it was actually one of the first things I found in the forum when I searched. It's really helpful, but my carb question is a little more model specific.

I've decided to go ahead and use what I've got. Provided I can find some nitrophyl floats. If the 1904's do blow apart, then I'll have a funny story I guess... I'm actually a little more concerned about fuel seepage around the bowl than anything else, though.

I know the blown 3-1 setup has been used before, I've seen pictures, but I was curious if anyone here has gone that route. And if they had any glory/horror stories about it...

Nobody's done it here. It is hard enough for most people to get one carb tuned right, much less three with the complications that a blower adds. There's a post a little farther down the page with some better arguments against it ("Turbo with Offy Tri-Power"). I think that Stroppe was the guy that got it working back in the 60's.

Yeah, there are some pretty convincing arguments in that post. I'm not really sure if I'll see any worthwhile gains or just a tuning nightmare.

However, 1904's are a dime-a-dozen, and I can always mount the blower on another 200 with only one carb.

So it's really not that big'a deal. Just an experiment, really.

But if it does work....it'll be SICK!!!

p.s. I didn't mean to come off as a stubborn newbie that won't listen to reason. :D

:) Well it takes a stubborn newbie to do "impossible" things sometimes.

Maybe it was just the way you originally asked that threw people off. If you've got time and parts to burn and it's really
not that big'a deal. Just an experiment
then maybe you shouldn't have asked if it's a
good idea
or
or expressed concern about it maybe turning into
an incredible pain in the ass
. :)

Ahhh, indeed. Lol!

If I do get this to work, I'll be sure to post some pics. Actually, even if it doesn't work I'll still post some!

Maybe someone will get some laffs out of it.
