I am finishing up on my Oz head conversion into my 66. I am planning to use a holley 2300 series 350 cfm carb. I would like to know everyones opinion on if i should use an manual or electric choke. If electric how hard is it to change a manual to elect w/ that kit they offer. Also is there a place to purchase them allready w/ elect. Thanks again for the help :D

HI YA MARK
I guess it would depend on your preferances.. With a manual you'll have to run a cable throu your fire wall as well make a spot in you dash to mount the end of the cable you pull from.. With an elect you just have to run a key on power wire to the choke housing and a ground wire (much cleaner). The elect. choke just mounts like a normal choke, the cable choke (manuel) will have a bracket attachment to the carb.
I my self would perfer the elect.

I prefer manual...though I have electric. My wife prefers it.

I like manual because that was what I learned on. I liked having control over it, not a generic heat vs electric resistance thing. But I haven't had the electric long, so I still need to give it a fair shot.

My only complaint with the electric chokes is the fact that the key needs to be in the "on" position to keep the coil up to temp. For that reason I also prefer the manual. With the manual you can start it up again when the engine is still warm and not have to run rich until the electric choke opens up again.

To each his own, Ric.

Mines a manual. Actually, it isnt even hooked up.....a couple of pumps in the morning and thats all it takes to fire her up! :D :D :D

I'm tempted to bypass my choke and force it to stay open. During the winter, I may reinstall it to run. I've had no problems with it running without a choke. Even my 1V didn't have a problem running without a choke, just had to give it some more gas for the first minute or so while it was warming up.
