just want to know which 2bbl carb is better the holley 2300 or a weber carb

Howdy Nathan:

We've been down this road many times before on this forum. Try a search first for more basic information.

Then try narrowing your search by defining "Better".

Both Holley 2300 and Holey/Weber 5200 are quality carbs and they do an excellent job at what they werde designed to do.

In general the Holley 2300, in either a 350 (350 CFM) or 500 (500 CFM) size will-
*have a stronger top end.
*be easy to work on and tune.
*be able to be tuned for good economy and driveability.

In general, the Holley/Weber (235 - 270 CFM)will-
*give good idle quality, driveability and economy.
*give slightly more performance.
*be able to be tuned to most any situation.

Both would benefit from direct mounting. Either can be mounted using an adaptor. Both will require a different or modified air cleaner, fuel lines, linkage and vacuum hose attachment. Both can offer a ported vacuum source.

What's "better" for you?

Adios, David

They are both good carburetors, but the bottom line is parts availability.
The holley 2300 series be it a 350-500 offer much more easy to get parts for plus more tuneability.
The only downside the opening of the throttle with the 2300 series is not progressive.
Other than that you got to go with the 2300 holley.
Look at the posts for holley-weber parts.
Another alternative is the ford 2 barrel. David & Dennis have used them with much success.
I know David has a 500 cfm holley he was going to try in place of the ford 2 barrel. Maybe when the weather clears in his area of the country we will get a comparison.
The X factor is now demon has a 500 cfm 2 barrel carb??? William
