How do I check if my Oil Pump is still working on my 200 inline 6? Thanks in advance.

If the engine runs, hook up a mechanical guage.
Otherwise remove the distributor & turn the oil pump with a hex shaft powered by a drill. Again a guage is necesary or remove the valve cover & look for oil flowing out the outlet on the front rocker shaft stand.

wsa111,

Thanks for the reply.

What kind of mechanical gauge and where do I hook it up?

you have a choice, buy a tool oil gauge or buy an oil gauge to mount in the car. any autoparts store will have both. unscrew the oil sender on the engine and screw it in.

I would just get one that mounts in the car personally, every car I've ever had I've installed one on. Its cheap insurance.

You don't really even need a drill to turn the oil pump... I put the hex shaft in, put an 8mm socket on the hex shaft, and turned the oil pump with a speed handle
