Since I started in Dec. I've been reading the topics, posting maybe 6 times, anxiously waiting to gather info and get started on my '66. I've finally removed the 200 and C-4 and took it apart. It's amazing I'm still alive considering how bad a shape that engine was in

Also, can I still use my C-4, since it's still in good shape? I'm not sure what tranny will work best.

Thanks

115 degrees here in AZ! Why do I still live here?

I got the PM, thanks. Over here, minimum for an EFI engine would be $150-odd in the car, condition unknown. Typically twice that plus a little at the wreckers for a rebuilder that runs half-decent with all the gear hanging off it. Add at least $100 for a C4 bell, or $200-odd for T5 one.

Allow up to $1800 for the nice rebuild parts.

These prices are in Aussie dollars, so multiply by about 0.7 for US Dollars.

Add some freight, a few bob for "odds and sods" (the bits you forget :? ) and you're away with an engine that will trounce quite a few V8s.

Hope this helps.

Adam.

i got my new engine from repco it's a hm/gem with three years warrenty for $1300 c/o every other place wanted about $1800 - $2200 for a change over engine.

I've watched the GEM company for years, since the late 1980's. They do some awesome rebuilds. Pay up fron't and get it all sorted. It will be a winner. I have seen several of there sixes end up as fine bases for turbo cars.

i got mine from a wrecker in Auckland New Zealand .It had no dissy but i got it for $150 and they took it out of the car for me . I did not check if it run as i was getting it rebuilt anyway.Turns out when i stripped it down it still had honemarks in the bore new rings, bearings and a new gaskets.Still went and got it rebuilt much to the annoyance of my mate who offered me $250 when he saw it with the head off.

cheers dave

addo !
how diffecult would it be to get a complete 250 crossflow efi motor , complete with sensors and wiring harnas, so a complete buildin ? with the T5 belhouse ? verry good condition ! with all the parts that are comming along for the efi setup ! [ feul pump/ pressure regular/ comp / ............ ]

i,m asking this because i did get more money than i did thought to get , did got a new job , the other company did a reorganisatie , and 27 people did fired , me too , the niced part is i got a new job , waterjet cutting programming and operating and i got my ? how to call ? golden hand shake ? f<<k of premie ?
imagen after 20 years working there , i get payd for every year i did workt there !! and i did a miscalculation for myself , after getting the official papers , it came out that i did get 9000€ more then i did thought !!!!
yesssssssssssssss !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
i,m thinking for bying good upgrade parts for my mustang and buying a 66 fastback for restauration
upgrade parts would be a good 250 efi [ unlead valves, and stuf ] / T5/ and complete new suspension.

so question is :howmuch for a 250 efi verry good condition with al the nessesery parts / T5 belhouse ore engine with a T5/ shipping cost and ofcourse paying al the gass and ouhrs you would spend to get this for me !
wil be a winter project , so take your time !
let me now if your willing to figure this out for me and are willing to do this for me ! money is now no problem 8)
could send money in front , so you dont have to use your money for me !

Harrie, would you share a crate with Nicolas (Lowrider)? Maybe something can be worked out. I know there is some fair distance between you, but it would still offer both savings.

Work is tiring me this week (shovel 5000kg dirt every day into buckets and carry them outside), but in a few days I can look at all my cost figures and publish them. Everyone can then see typical costs.

Adam.

np sharing a crate , thats what we here for in this forum , helping eachother when possible , like i did told , im not in a hurry ,just give me some price calculation before you go ahead ,, some how i must have a limit 8)

btw did someone already drop in a tick ford 4 liter engine in his car ? the newer type engin ?

Thanks Adam,
I'll be ready to purchase in a couple weeks (refinanced my house). Got your PM and you mentioned all the other parts that I need to consider. It sounds like it'd be better to get all those at once and have them shipped. I'm just confused on how to get started. Would it be better to get a whole engine ready to go, even considering the added expense? My friend and I would like to do the rebuild but for me an issue is teaching starting up again in 3 weeks and not having a lot of time. My car is dead and I need to get it going.

If you need your car in three weeks, you are not going to be able to use an Aussie engine, Aztech. When JD shipped my stuff, it left Oz in October 2001 and arrived in Orlando in January 2002.

If you fail to plan, it will take three times as long as you think, however, if you have everything planned carefully, it will only take you twice as long ....... :? Even after you get the engine, figure 2-3 weeks to do the swap. You have several details to re-engineer.

Listen to MustangSix. My planning began towards the end of last year and the engine still isn't in. Of course I ran into some unexpected problems, but what project doesn't?

Tom, your learning about car building 101....becoming an expert project manager, delivering the baby after getting the birthpangs. You are following in the footsteps of Mentor Jack.

You have no idea what you've done, and just how much it'll spice up your car life. Every one will wonder what the heck you've got...

Hang in there!

:) Thanks for raising the time/install issues I love to stress, Jack. The EFI is an unquantifiable one to me, as I've never done such a transplant myself. The carb crossflow is well covered "down" here as it's common enough in roundbody Falcons. It's simple enough, but we can reiterate it in Strine if required.

FWIW, one of the biggest frustrations (reality vs expectation) can be the crating and freighting. Some engines I dropped off three and a half weeks ago only got consolidated Friday 11th.

Sometimes the run-around for one part can drive you nuts. Of course, then you stumble over more... I express freighted two 221 flywheels at AUD$95 each, then bought a whole 221 motor with a Geoff Dellow Celica bell for $350, net including 250 miles in fuel costs.

Adam.

WOW
looks like I'm just in time for this thread!!
Sharing a crate would be SUPER!!! It would save transport costs for BOTH of us, transporting the engine from either a Belgian port to The Netherlands or from a Dutch port to Belgium isn't such a big deal. I'll rent a van for a day or I'll ask my sister's boyfriend.

However, I'm afraid I haven't quite found my stuff yet, the money from the BAJA (insider) is set away, but my acquaintance has just recently been asked (read: today) to look around.
Then there could, of course, also be a problem with the locations of the engines inside Australia.
But perhaps we could work something out.

Here's a few quotes the guy gave me to assure me that he could help me:

Ford 250 EFI, complete motor, $200 or near offer WOLLONGONG 02-4271 6296
FORD PARTS SUIT XD/XF, fuel injected motor, runs perfect $550, C4 auto $250,
Ford XE 6 cylinder EFI complete engine, with computer, also 4 speed box and S-Pack front bar, $300
Ford XE motor, worked 6 cylinder, too many parts to list, very good condition, $650 or near offer URUNGA 0401
Ford Falcon XD 4.1 cross flow motor, 12,000klms since full rebuild, $325

The "XR6" version of this motor makes 164Kw (220HP) and would be harder to find.
I just rang a specialist dismantler (wrecker) and he quoted me AUS$1350 for an XR6 motor complete (ie computer, wiring loom, headers, etc).
His standard late model motors range from $850 to $1050 complete.

Those prices look REALLY good I think (I don't even need an "XR6")
I would also want a 4-speed automatic transmission with that...on the side :D

Also here, no hurry, if we order today, chances are slim we'll see it very soon, right?
I've got work enough restoring a Porsche 356B-T6 right now anyway...

low rider !!!!!!! from belgie ??? close to holland !!!!
btw very nice adresse for getting a complete engine , maybe whe can make a deal and buying 2 engine,s from the same auto wrecker ?

weet niet of je ook hollands kunt of dat je aan de franse kant zit ? 8)

in sept there is in holland a BIGG international mustang meeting !! if interested , just let me now ! i will give further details ! btw when getting problems with pikking up the engine when arriving , just let me now , just give me some gass money and il bring it to your door !!
maybe PM for further details for working out with 2 engine,s buying and shipping ?

Those listings are probably from "Autotrader" Australia; nothing hard to find but he's picked a good spread of stuff. That site is very very slow!

A realistic timeframe (if you are trying to get everything together and avoid needing more stuff) might be 7-8 weeks until loading on the ship. This sounds a lot, but note my point above re: waiting three weeks just to get other people busy and working.

My understanding of places like BE and NL is that they are very metric, any imperial fasteners are hard to get. This basically means every nut and bolt, washer and dust cover, clip and housing and bracket has to be provided for... Plus, you'd want to ensure a few other things; like checking if the distributor needs a rebuild. My point particularly? You need to have some experience with these engines or good perception skills (like Porsche specialists?).

Note that we have a good cheap source of rear conversion crossmembers here, from CRS. They are about AUD$90. Made to fit Falcons, I understand they also do fit Mustangs.

Hmm, this gets more interesting by the minute. Expect a post on T5 Aussie bellhousings in the next week or so, to clear some of the common issues.

Adam.

hahaha,,,,, seems to be that addo is getting a lot to do , btw the fastener en metric stuf , can i not just order a complete engine bolt kit from the mustang shop?
