could i use a MSD coil with the pertronix ignitor II. just curious, ive seen someone do that in a magazine

Distributors don't care what brand coil is used. There's nothing special about them as long as the resistance (measured in Ohms) is what the distributor expects to see.

I wouldn't go with the Ignitor II, myself. I've heard of a lot of problems with them on this board. The Ignitor I seems to be pretty much trouble-free, though.

Yes the I seems to have a smaller failure rate than the II. Just don;t leave the Ignition switch on while not running (while doing any troubleshooting or for any other reason). I have the Pertronix I on mine and have installed a small disconnect in the feed wire from the Ignition Switch to the Coil so I could cut off the power to the Pertronix Unit if I had to leave the Ignition Switch on while not running the engine for any reason. Has been a troublefree unit since I installed it somewhat over four years ago.
