Been gone for a while... sorry I had to leave everything and go make some money.
Anyway, I am back and getting ready to get into the Mustang again now that the summer is here....
Just a brief update on how things fell into place.
After working very hard trying to figure things out and getting nowhere in the end I got some help. I was having the exact same problems Doug was having with his rebuild, run-on, poor idle vacume 10 inches at 900 rpms with some fouled plugs.
We finally got it to run nicely using a 6.5 power valve and tuning the distributor to run with 17 degrees initial and a limited draw on the vacume to give a little better curve, it is not right, the distributor needs recurved to be 100%. but this has worked well for a few rides here and there, and I have not been driving it too much, so I am all ready for the Dyno now.
I have found a local Ford Performance shop in Douglasville with a Dyno... I am taking the car in two weeks to put it up and re-curve the dizzy, tune the Holley and really get the numbers perfect.
But it runs like a dream right now, things are broken in nicely about 4500 miles on her right now!
I have added a third brake light, new horns, the stereo with amps 1500 watts now and seven speakers. I replaced the steering column with a Flaming River unit and put in new bearings up top... this has had one of the greatest returns for dollars spent to pleasure gained... that steering column and bearing made this car drive completely different... much tighter and handles better... I used to get backlash from big holes in the wheel not no more!
anyway, here are some pics of how she looks tonight! hope I can dive back in again and continue this project out... soon it will be time to tear this entire car apart again, paint and re-assemble!
