One friend ofer me a 289 V8 from $1.000. It's possible to install in my car?
How much hp you can get from a 200ci?

Saludos de los Estados Unidos! You can get as much horsepower as you have money. 8) Seriously, the V8 can be made to put out much more than our 6s can, but: they are heavier, use more gas, and they're not as easy to work on.
A properly set-up 6 cylinder Mustang can outhandle an 8. It can be more fun when you open the hood, and surprise everyone with your 6.

Well...if you want cheap HP, the V-8 is the way to go. For the $1000 for the engine, you can get the 200 close to the stock power of a 289-2V, but you are towards the top of good streetable power while with the V-8 you are just starting out.

Yeah, I also had the choice. I have a rebuilt 302 in my garage, but its true when they talk about all those cookie cutter v8's in the shows. So I opted to stay with the inline 6 over my 302. It is possible to do, first your gonna need a new rear axle (depending on whether yours is already a 4 lug or 5 lug) Then your gonna need to change the bell housing on your tranny to fit the bigger motor. In which your gonna be spending more then 1k in the end. I would much rather (and i did) fix the inline six, show it off, and have the people talkin about your awesome six

well if you want a the cool factor of a suped 6, gas mileage of a 6, insurance of a 6 (at least I think....I'm trying everything) weight of a 6. just look around, theres always the choice of turbos, and superchargers. pretty much your only limit is your wallet!

to install a V8 properly, you're going to spend much more money than just buying the V8 and dropping it in

as for how much power, do you want to go with forced induction, or leave it naturally aspirated?
i'll be going with a turbo in the future, and hope to get around 400 HP from it, but that will be built to the hilt and will cost a good deal

Your asking a forum of inline 6 lovers what you should do? Of course were all going to tell you to keep the 6!!!

Seriously though a natural aspirated 6 hopped up with decent gearing 3.55 will more then keep up with a 289/302 easily. Now if you did all the same work to that V8 it would be faster for sure.

However, you could always go with forced induction (turbo or supercharger). There is a guy with a falcon running a turbo on a log head getting into the 12's. My fried that will keep up with the Supercharged Cobra that came out in 03. That is fast!

One thing is for sure V8's have been done and done and over done. It is true what people say about popping up the hood and the looks on faces when they see the six. Specially with an Aussie head on it. "What is that?"

The arguement you'll always have, anything you do to the 6, can usually be done for the V-8 for cheaper because of the availability an popularity of the 289/302 and 351 engines.

The only real advantage of the 6 is mileage and uniqueness for any build for the 6. I get lots of looks when I pop the hood. Actually less now with the Aussie because it looks more stock to the unknowing eye then my old Offy set up did.

My next stang will probably be a 6 too.
